$3 million prize revealed for winner of Dubai World Challenge for Self-Driving Transport

RTA has unveiled $3m prize money to the winner of the upcoming Dubai World Challenge for Self-Driving Transport. Under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, RTA on Monday announced the opening of registration for the 4th Dubai World Challenge for Self-Driving Transport 2025, under the theme: “Dubai Autonomous Transport Zone.”

The participants are free to register for the challenge from the official website of this global competition: sdchallenge.awardsplatform.com. The names of the finalists will be revealed in October this year, while the winner will be announced in September 2025 during the Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport. The overall winner will be awarded $3 million.

The fourth edition of the challenge brings a new competitive format, which is called the Dubai Autonomous Transport Zone. This is in line with RTA’s ongoing efforts to boost Dubai’s position as a global hub for autonomous mobility technology at all tiers. The challenge involves the various interlinked transport systems within a region in which passengers may use a range of self-driving transport means. The participants can form a group of companies or a single company that includes more than one AT System under one service provider organization. Any company with experience in self-driving transport and the integration of mobility systems is welcome to attend.

Dubai World Challenge for Self-Driving Transport focuses on raising the city’s standing in the sphere of self-driving transport to meet the government’s initiative to shift 25% of all mobility trips in Dubai to self-driving transport by 2030. This challenge, therefore, becomes a platform that hosts experts, technology manufacturers, researchers, and academics to foster ideas and visions that align with the strategic goals of the Dubai government and RTA’s Smart Dubai as well as the Government’s Smart City agenda.
