Undoubtedly, it was a night of jubilation, fist bumps, and hugs during the third edition of the Michelin Guide Dubai, 2024. While a host of restaurants dominated this year’s list, the man who stole the show with his magnificent new entry was chef Jason Atherton and his restaurant Row on 45 which made its entry to the list with two Michelin stars.
His team thronged him with cheers and hugs as he went on stage to be awarded with the Michelin star chef’s jacket. The chef could hardly control his emotions and said, “It is a dream come true.”
“I have worked with Atlas for 36 years as a chef, it is not simple to stick to the kitchen and cook for guests, one has to work extremely hard to meet the quality requirements.”
At the sparkling occasion that took place at the One & Only One Zabeel, five new restaurants where awarded a place into the list. Hence, Dubai was able to acquire total four restaurants with two Michelin stars and 15 restaurants with Michelin one-star.
It was quite special for chef Jason, who initially relocated to the UAE in the early 2000s as the chef for Gordon Ramsay Group, to attain the two-star rating here. “This city is exceptional,” he said.
“This is where I met my soulmate, and we intended this gourmet restaurant at the top of Grosvenor House. The rate at which Dubai has grown in the last twenty years is amazing.”
Every one of the three restaurants that were awarded a two-star rating last year managed to sustain it this year or improve on it as did the eleven one-star restaurants from year 2023. Four restaurants were promoted from having one star to receiving another star at the Bib Gourmand list.
