Starting Monday, July 29, paid parking will be introduced in two areas in Abu Dhabi: KCDA and Etihad Plaza of Khalifa City have also been closed following an outbreak, authorities informed on Saturday.
Three sectors within those areas will now have paid parking: Namely, SW2, SE45, and SE48.
SE48 of car parking is situated on Al Mireef Street at the head office of Etihad Airways and consists of 694 car parking space out of which 3 are for those of determination.
Situated at Etihad Plaza between Al Mireef Street and Al Ibtisamah Street is sector SE45 which has parking bays for 1, 283 cars out of which 17 are exclusively for the people of determination.
Sector SW2 is surrounded by Al Marmouq Street in the west and Al Qalayid Street in the East; Theyab Bin Eissa Street in the North and Al Murahibeen Street in the south. It is provided with 523 parking slots where 17 of which are reserved for People of Determination.
Some of the highlighted key projects are: The Mawaqif service will be activated, the infrastructure work of the same will be assertively accomplished and signboards put in place, AD Mobility said on X.
This initiative is supposed to reduce cases of illegal parking, and mostly because the safety of the students and everyone else is very important.
The authority has also been distributing some Pamphlets on the general parking for the public, in order to educate people and businesses in the areas of the new changes.
The government of the emirate has a company named Mawaqif which is also a subsidiary of AD Mobility and it deals with the direction and the coordination of parking areas in the emirate.
It divides parking spaces by types, indicating each type’s and establishing the fee rates for them. Regarding the expenses for the two new areas within Mawaqif, information is still vague on the charges.
In general, Mawaqif parking zones come in two types: basic and advanced on one side and affordable and economical on the other side it is known as premium and standard. As for the premium icon (white and blue signs), its fees are Dh3 per hour during the period 8:00 a.m. to 12:00-am with the maximum of 4 hours. Standard (black and blue) is Dh2 per hour or Dh15 for 24 hours and it is free on Sunday and public holidays.
