Abu Dhabi Launches Plan to Become World’s First AI-Native Government by 2027

By 2027, Abu Dhabi is planning to convert all government operations to a fully AI-enabled operation, as one of the greatest strides towards artificial intelligence and cloud computing in public services. Under the auspices of the Dh13 billion-awarded bold new initiative of the emirate, the Abu Dhabi Government Digital Strategy 2025-2027 aims to substantiate the vision of being the world’s first ‘fully AI-native government’.

A DGE-led initiative, this strategy is to automate all government processes and implement cloud computing for all departments. The scheme is expected to revolutionize the provisioning of public services in terms of efficiency and streamlined operations across the emirate. AI shall be integrated into the core functions of the government by 2027 to improve service delivery and economic growth sustainability.

A key aspect of the initiative will be the creation of one generic digital enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform, which will enable more effective integration of AI systems and increase the productivity of the government. A holistic ‘AI for All’ scheme will also be launched, empowering citizens with skills in AI through various training and development initiatives within Abu Dhabi.

Besides digital transformation, the initiative is meant to create more than 5,000 additional jobs in the New Emiratization strategy for the emirate and boost Abu Dhabi’s GDP by over Dh24 billion. DGE emphasizes the importance of AI, cloud technologies, and data-driven insights to optimize government processes for better economic growth.

The new strategy focuses not only on technological improvements but also on keeping cybersecurity bars high, and new digital standards ensuring the robust protection of government services. Such initiatives will see deployment across hundreds of government services, whereby more than 200 innovative AI solutions will be seen to take government services into a very different future.

The commitment of Abu Dhabi to be a fully AI-native government is intended to set a worldwide standard in technological innovation in public administration.
