Abu Dhabi’s new Terminal A to begin operations on November 1, 2023

The newly renamed Abu Dhabi International Airport Terminal A will open on November 1.

The new building, which was previously known as the Midfield Terminal, will accommodate 45 million passengers per year, process 11,000 travelers per hour, and operate 79 aircraft at a time.

The terminal will also have world-class amenities, including luxurious lounges, relaxation zones, and spa facilities where travelers can rest before or after their flights. There will also be retail and food and beverage outlets comprising a massive 163 retail, food, and beverage outlets catering to a wide variety of tastes and preferences.

Airlines will migrate to the new airport in three phases over two weeks, with all 28 airlines operating from Terminal A as of November 14.

Once open, visitors will be able to shop for brands like Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent or visit the world’s first Muji airport store.

On the food front, visitors will be able to visit Jones The Grocer, Taste of India, Starbucks, and the Camden Food Co.

There will be two health and beauty spas, as well as a 138-bedroom hotel inside.

Terminal A will boast a range of state-of-the-art interconnected biometric systems, inviting passengers to enjoy the speed and comfort of a seamless, digitized journey from pre-travel to the boarding gate.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, chairman of Abu Dhabi Airports, said, “As Abu Dhabi’s new gateway to the world, Terminal A is an embodiment of Abu Dhabi Airports’ commitment to support the emirate’s sustainable economic development.

“The opening of the facility, which is at par with the largest and grandest on our planet, turns over a new page in Abu Dhabi’s 55-year aviation history. A beacon of modernity and sophistication, it will be a pivotal driver for our emirate’s growth by spurring tourism and trade.”

Aside from being state of the art, Abu Dhabi International Airport Terminal A will also become a new architectural landmark in the city, having already racked up numerous international design awards.
