The Bollywood actor, Shah Rukh Khan is returning to the UAE to host the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards which will be taking place in Yas Island of Abu Dhabi this year.
Since its establishment in the year 2000, the awards have had linkages with the Raees actor in some manner or the other. He has been seen as the host, the star, the performer, and even the awardee on the IIFA stage.
He was honored during the 2017 IIFA Awards held in New York where the audience paid him a special tribute due to his twenty-five years in the industry.
Trophies, that he has collected from the IIFAs include the Best Actor for Devdas (2003); the Best Actor award for Veer-Zaara (2005), and the Best Actor award for My Name is Khan (2011) among others.
Certain shows garner more attention than others and Khan’s shows to songs of Veer-Zaara in 2005 as well as a medley of 2013 are still fresh in everyone’s memory.
In a press note shared ahead of the event, organizers said: “Over the years, the ‘Baadshah of Bollywood’ has moved beyond mere participation in the IIFA Awards becoming one of its key stalwarts. Truly, his efforts have gone a long way to turn IIFA into a spectacle that pays homage to Indian cinema His stand at IIFA is unique: extraordinary performances, rousing speeches, and an indelible presence that has taken IIFA to dizzying new heights.”
Nevertheless, we anxiously and excitedly await seeing him on the stage again this year.
