BurJuman Mall to Launch Ticketless Parking System

BurJuman Mall in Dubai will soon launch a ticketless parking system in keeping with the growing trend in the city to modernize parking solutions. This follows the implementation of a similar system at the Mall of the Emirates, Deira City Centre, and the Dubai Mall, where the technology was used last year.

The new system will do away with the physical parking ticket, thus allowing an enhanced flow of work with better efficiency. There will still be parking barriers, but these will not stop cars from collecting tickets handed over by an attendant. Instead, camera systems will electronically read vehicles’ license plates to compute parking charges. As vehicles near, the barriers will automatically rise, allowing visitors seamless access to the parking areas

Although the launch date for the ticketless parking system is not yet announced, it was made on the website of the mall. In addition to providing ticketless parking, the mall plans to introduce a ‘Find My Car’ service to further facilitate visitors in locating their vehicles. There will also be improvements in navigation around the parking area.

The pricing, however, remains unchanged. Visitors can continue to park their vehicles free for three hours and thereafter pay Dh20 for each hour. Sundays and public holidays will remain free while moviegoers will still enjoy an extra three hours of free parking. Overnight parking will not be allowed, however, and violations will incur a charge of Dh250 per day.

Opened in 1991, the BurJuman Mall remains one of the major shopping hubs in Dubai. It is part of the Saif Al Ghurair Real Estate Group, which has over 286,000 square meters of property housing over 100 retail stores, a cinema, a family entertainment center, a hypermarket, and several restaurants.

Well-connected by the well-known BurJuman Metro, the mall is situated at the busiest point in the city. The station recorded about 7.8 million commuters from January to June last year, driving home the mall’s significance in Dubai’s retail situation
