Dhs 500 Fine in UAE: Police call for pedestrian safety

Motorists are cautioned by the Ajman Police against stopping at pedestrian crossings, as this violation may result in a Dh500 fine.

A social media post emphasizes the importance of prioritizing pedestrian safety and urges drivers to refrain from halting their vehicles at these crossings.

The post asked motorists not to stop their vehicles at pedestrian crossings. The Ajman police reminded drivers that the violation could bring a fine of Dh500.

Some drivers disregard traffic regulations and show a complete lack of respect for pedestrians using designated crossings. Many drivers seem preoccupied with things other than the road, which puts pedestrians at risk.

In response to these concerns, Police has launched an awareness campaign. The campaign aims to promote traffic awareness among all road users, establish the importance of adhering to traffic laws, and emphasize the rights of pedestrians to cross the road safely.

Earlier this year, a 34-year-old Asian man died after being run over by two separate vehicles while he was crossing the road from a place not authorized for pedestrian crossing. The horrifying incident occurred when the victim was pulling a bicycle across a road and was hit by two cars. The double collision led to his immediate death.

Police from other emirates also repeatedly issue reminders about violations that can lead to accidents on the road, as well as the fines and black points they could fetch you.
