New parking spaces are expected to decrease traffic congestion and delays near two prominent schools in Dubai by up to 50%. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has increased parking space additions at Repton School Dubai in Nad Al Sheba and GEMS Al Khaleej International School in Al Warqa, giving commuters great relief, especially parents, due to such changes during school drop-off and pick-up.
It’s also part of the entire program to develop the roads in school areas where RTA has constructed an additional 150 parking spaces in each school. It has thus doubled the parking capacity at Repton School which now stands at 300 spaces. For international schools, it has risen by 125% to a Garages Total of 270 places.
In addition, creating safe entrances and exits is part of the RTA’s road improvement project for these newly expanded parking areas. Meanwhile, pedestrian pathways and crossings have been established to ensure the safety of children and parents. New signage, road marking, and traffic controlling measures include organizing flow within the busy areas and enhancing overall safety.
Under this program, the RTA is furthering its efforts to reduce traffic delays and improve access to schools all over Dubai. Cumulatively, the previous months have seen improvements in 37 roads within the school premises, which translated to about 15-20% less traveling time for commuters. The RTA has widened roads leading to schools and attempted to lessen congestion in school zones by providing more parking areas for both staff and parents.
With such improvements in the running time, it will most likely give a better school transport experience to families, safe space for vehicles of users on the road, and ultimately remove bottlenecks.
