Talking about his vision, Griffiths said, “Thinking needs to go where we can integrate the transport with the local communities; we can make trains completely sustainable to run on clean energy. If we can provide a very quick outside check-in where you drop your bag and sit in a comfortable train directly taking you to the gate closest to your airplane.”

Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths said designs were being drawn up for Al Maktoum International Airport, which will be built on the city’s outskirts and should replace Dubai International in the 2030s.

“We’re thrilled but not entirely surprised that DXB is all set to surpass the pre-pandemic milestone well ahead of our initial projections by almost a year. Our outlook for the remainder of this year and the next remains optimistic. Teaming up with our strategic partners, we’re ready for the challenge to continue to exceed guest satisfaction amidst the continuous surge in traffic,” said Paul Griffiths.

He added: “We are not planning an airport that has terminals. We’re going to completely change the business model for airports, make them far more intimate, and get rid of all the legacy processes that we’ve had to subject our customers to, for far too long.”
