The Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai has revealed some modifications on the traffic including road closures prior to the city’s greater New Year Eve’s celebrations. As of December 31, 4 PM, major roads are going to be closed to allow the massive influx of visitors going to some of the hottest spots like the Burj Khalifa area, where fireworks are scheduled to explode.
The Residents and visitors planning to join the end-of-year events and celebrations in the city should set out as early as possible, especially before 4pm, to avoid the road closing. Highly recommended is the public transport for avoiding congestion, which guarantees smoother travel. The RTA has set additional parking slots for vehicles at such places as Dubai Mall, Zabeel, and Emaar Boulevard. Alternatively, Al Wasl and GDRFA lots will be available for visitors, from where free shuttle buses will take them to the celebration venues.
Making the day even easier, the RTA recommends leaving the area as early as possible before 4 p.m. If you have made a booking to have fun in this area, arrive earlier before the road closes for timely access.
RTA has also arranged with the Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs to set viewing points for workers. These viewing points will be equipped with large screens broadcasting the activities and serving meals so that employees can safely access the show’s fireworks from a convenient location.
At 4pm, Dubai Water Canal Footbridge and its elevators will close in support of the smooth flow and movement of traffic and pedestrians.
Celebrations will be held all over the city through 36 different venues, including Burj Park, Global Village, Dubai Festival City Mall, Al Seef, Bluewaters, The Beach at JBR, and Hatta. These are meant to ensure smoothness and safety as the residents and visitors in the city usher in 2025.
