Dubai announces the closure of three major family attractions for summer 2024

Some of the most visited destinations in Dubai have closed their gates as the summer season draws near.

Several of the much-loved tourist sites have gradually started closing their doors in readiness for the summer season in Dubai. Such closures include the entertainment city known as Global Village which usually closes its doors on May 5th of the year.

However, this year witnessed an addition with Global Village shutting down a week later than what was announced in the first week with an extension of a week. The attraction commenced its 28th season a week early, opening its doors to the public on October 18 instead of the traditional October 25.

Another one to mention is the Dubai Safari – a park for families, which closed on June 2, 2024. The park, through the official Instagram handle, posted a video indicating that they were closing shop for summer and the last day of operations was the day the video was posted.

At Expo City Dubai, Al Wasl Plaza is also preparing to shut down during summer months as well. This major attraction, featuring a mesmerizing water element, will be closing down for the year. The decision to turn off the water fountain is consistent with efforts to reduce water and energy consumption in the summer, thus emphasizing cost-effectiveness and environmental concern.

Dubai Miracle Garden, one of the most popular sights for lovers of floral designs, is to remain open for an extra two weeks. Both the residents and the tourists can only visit this beauty before the garden closes for the summer on June 15th. This extension allows the lovers to enjoy the vivid colors and beautiful patterns of the blossoming flowers for a little while longer.

Their shutdown is a vivid example of the seasonal nature of tourism in Dubai: working hours are adjusted depending on the level of demand for specific attractions and services.
