Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) Dubai will roll out the free WiFi service at six bus stations in the city. This initiative first started in December, with the aim to further improve the public transport experience of commuters by providing free internet access at crucial bus hubs.
Free WiFi at Six Bus Stations
These newly inducted added bus stations on the network now include the following top six busy and popular transit destinations in Dubai:
- Mall of the Emirates
- Ibn Battuta
- International City
- City Centre Deira
- Al Qusais
- Al Jafiliya
These six stations add to the four already provided free WiFi in December last year, Satwa, Union, Al Ghubaiba, and Gold Souq bus stations.
The authorities have made this provision as an important step toward enhancing the overall public transport experience within the confines of Dubai. Such steps would include making the high-traffic bus stations more convenient to the commuters travelling to and from such places on a daily basis while offering free internet access to such travel hubs.
Providing commuters with easy access to information, as well as entertainment and communication, the free WiFi service will be part of the RTAs’ digital transformation initiatives towards increased utilization of their mobile apps and online services.
Plans for Further Expansion
The RTA has confirmed that it is working on plans to expand the free WiFi coverage further to actualize this service on all Dubai bus stations. This initiative falls under the authority’s continuous promise to information, infrastructure development, and services that continuously support Dubai’s public transport network, making it more accessible and user-friendly to Dubai residents and visitors alike.
As part of its vision for a smart city, Dubai continues to integrate modern technologies that improve urban mobility and public convenience.
