Dubai International Airport is preparing to welcome about 2.5 million passengers over the next eight days with ramifications of some of the busiest days of travel approaching due to Ramadan. February 20-28 will average over 280000 travelers per day at DXB, which is where the airport attempts to peak in movements.
Several global events contribute to the trend, including the ICC Champions Trophy, the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships, and the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge. Additionally, school breaks in most key markets have just completed their half term, adding impetus to overseas travel.
Saturday 22 February will see the most traffic bustle, with more than 295,000 expected to pass through the airport. This coincides with the much talked about cricket match between India and Pakistan, scheduled at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
As such, they want everyone arriving earlier to catch their flights. Moving on, DXB has shared a travel alert that advises that passengers using the Dubai Metro during this busy travel period should use Terminals 1 and 3 for their travel. On the other hand, the Terminal 1 bus stop starts to be deactivated on Friday, February 21, with alternative transportation modes.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will update bus schedules for smooth travel movement. The oneDXB community, including airport teams and stakeholders, is working together to ensure operations run seamlessly during this high-traffic period.
Emirates, the national flag carrier of Dubai, has also issued a travel alert. The advice to passengers is to travel early in order to avoid the possible delays experienced, especially during this heavy weekend from the 21st to 23 February. They are encouraging travelers to check in early either at the airport or through online registration, or by visiting Emirates’ store located in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
With extensive planning and coordination, DXB aims to keep the pace of passenger flow smooth and efficient during the peak travel season.
