Dubai Mall paid parking commences; spots found easily on day 1

Dubai Mall paid parking began on July 1, and several respondents interviewed at Dubai Mall expressed their satisfaction at finding parking space easily, and at a close range to the entrance during the first day that they adopted a paid parking regime.

A regular visitor, Tasha Jackson, said that she was extremely happy. “I visit this mall from time to time for my work-related errands, but I have never seen it this deserted in the recent past,” she added.
“I parked right next to the entrance at the Cinema Parking… I am really happy because usually I have to spend at least 15 to 20 minutes just looking for parking, and sometimes I get a spot very far away… I only need to spend an hour or less whenever I come here… Hopefully, This new system will make it easy for me to whizz in and out. ”
On Monday, July 1, the Dubai Mall implemented a new scheme, in partnership with Dubai’s road toll operator Salik, that will see the prevalent shopping terminus offer four hours of free parking on weekdays and six hours on weekends.

Free Parking

Salik put up the signs that are mounted at every parking entrance other than that there are no signs of the paid parking system. As reiterated by the operators earlier, this is an effective and fully integrated system. This means that the paid parking is only implemented in the Fashion, Grand, and Cinema parking. The Zabeel and Fountain View parking will be available open for public access. The two free parking facilities were very busy in the very early morning. By midday, most levels displayed no parking or very low figures.

“Many of the staff that work in the mall have parked their vehicles in Zabeel and Fountain View parking,” a parking attendant said.
“That is why the other parking is relatively deserted while these are filled with numerous people.”

Rates for paid parking

Information boards demonstrating the prices of parking have been put up at various places across the mall, markedly outside elevators close to the parking facilities. It will amount to Dh20 for shoppers a stay lasting up to 5 hours, Dh500 to stay for 12 to 24 hours, and Dh1000 to stay more than 24 hours at the parking.
Only cars that have Salik tags will have entry to the paid parking facilities at the mall, according to the operators. However, it was not made clear how these cars would be spotted or stopped.
