Dubai Metro Timings for New Year’s 2020 announced by RTA

The RTA has announced that Dubai Metro will be running all night on New Year’s Eve.
As many main roads and freeways will be chocked and congested due to high traffic on the New Year’s Eve events and fireworks all over the city, it is best to leave your car and hop on the train.

Emirates Airline, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai Police, Dubai Customs, the General Directorate of Foreign Residency Affairs (GDRFA) and Dubai Airports yesterday announced joint plans to facilitate the passenger and traffic movements to and from Dubai International Airport (Terminal 1 and 3) during the next few weeks of peak travel.

The peak holiday travel period will run from December 19 to January 6, with over 5 million passengers passing through Dubai International Airport.

Timings:

December 27-28: Red Line (between Rashidiya and DMCC stations only) from 5:00 am to 3.30 am; Green Line (all stations) from 5.30 am to 3.30 am.

December 31 – January 1: Red Line (between Rashidiya and DMCC stations only) for 24 hours; Green Line (all stations) for 24 hours.

January 2-3: Red Line (between Rashidiya and DMCC stations only) from 5:00 am to 3.30 am; Green Line (all stations) 5.30 am to 3.30 am.

For people using their cars on 31st December on the roads leading to the airport, Dubai Police will provide detours for traffic. All passengers are requested to adhere to the displayed instructions and guidance to/from the airport.

During the peak travel period and passengers are allowed to carry 2 pieces of check-in baggage onboard during departure and on arrival.

Recommendations:

Travellers leaving from Dubai International Airport have been advised to arrive three to four hours ahead of their scheduled flight in anticipation of heavy traffic. Passengers are reminded that gates close 20 minutes before departure. To ensure timely flight departures, passengers who report late will not be accepted for travel.

Eligible visitors (nationals of countries eligible for visa on arrival) and UAE residents (Emirates ID cardholders) can use the smart gates to avoid queuing at passport control, both while arriving and on departure.

Passengers travelling through Terminal 1 should confirm check-in times for their respective airlines.

Customers with baggage arriving into Terminal 1 can make use of the quick-baggage drop counters, while those carrying only hand luggage can proceed directly to immigration.
