Dubai motorists to renew licenses, and registrations through mobile phones

Several motorists will now be able to renew their driving licenses and vehicle registrations through their mobile phones, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) declared on Tuesday, July 2.

As it stands, Consumers with Samsung gadgets can easily upload their vehicle registration information and driving license directly to their Samsung Wallet through easy access to the RTA application.

The authority also launched a new version of the official app in May; this app is easier to use and designed to help people reach the authority’s services.

Integration also means several apps are no longer needed and there is a convenient way to store important documents regarding transportation.

The current interface of the RTA app is offered in a new version, which proposes a personal board of the services for the customers who have signed into the app, the services are conveniently divided into sections on one screen.

Another salient aspect of this solution is it enables users to renew their vehicle and the driving license as well as purchase parking tickets and without struggle.

Meera Al Shaikh, director of Smart Services at RTA, said that all of the data are “stored and secured to the highest standards of security and privacy, stressing that RTA and Samsung respect the user’s trust.”

“That is why, through smartphones, we will change urban transport, and move towards the creation of a digital future of the city, which is included in the plan of Dubai’s development as the smartest city in the world,” she added.

“This integration is accompanied by the strong guarantee of our military Knox security mechanism which further showcases our commitment to the security aspect and the integrity of the consumers’ personal information,” stated Fadi Abu Shamat, the head of Mobile Experience Division of Samsung Gulf Electronics.

Previously in October of the past year, RTA released the digital nolPay for users of Samsung that use the Dubai Metro or any other type of transport in Dubai. They can wave their smart phone or smartwatch to obtain transport. The Nol card that has gone digital can also be used in some of the retail shops, groceries, park, museums, and any other outlet.
