Dubai Municipality has banned shisha or smoking in Ramadan tents during Iftar until 9pm.
The Acting Director of Public Health and Safety Department at Dubai Municipality Dr Nassim Rafee said, “The decision to ban shisha was implemented last year and we are continuing to carry the ban again this year.”
She said, “Iftar tents are usually filled with families and because many of the elderly and children visit such venues, Dubai Municipality implemented the rule to ensure the health and well-being of all.”
According to Federal Law No. 15 of 2009 on tobacco control and its executive regulations, food establishments have to obtain a No Objection Certificate from authorities.
