HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Higher Committee for Expo 2020 Dubai, has issued a decision to form a committee to oversee the city’s readiness to host Dubai Expo 2020 in full.
The committee is headed by His Excellency Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Director-General of His Highness the Ruler of Dubai, and Emirates Minister of State and Managing Director for the Dubai World Expo 2020 Bint Ibrahim Al Hashimi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, Director General of Expo Dubai 2020 and Mr. Mohammed Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Roads and Transport Authority Director General of Dubai World Trade Center, Khalifa Suhail Al-Zafin, CEO of Dubai Air City Corporation, Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, Engineer Daoud Abdul Rahman Al-Hajri, Director General Municipality.
The committee started its work by holding its first meeting under the chairmanship of His Excellency Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sheibani and discussed the plans and the latest developments related to the follow-up of the national readiness to host the Expo 2020 Dubai and the latest developments related to the preparations for the upcoming international event.
The committee is working on a plan of action to ensure preparations at the state level to organize the events of the world event in terms of the integration of technical equipment, logistics, information, marketing, tourism and so on.
It also identifies the scope of projects to be implemented in preparation for Expo in the Emirate of Dubai in particular and the UAE in general. To this end, the Committee examined coordination mechanisms with federal and local stakeholders to ensure the implementation of the functions and competencies of the Commission.
At the national level, the Committee discussed the integration of Expo 2020 Dubai visitors throughout the country from airports, transport systems, road network, etc.
“The Expo is a national project with excellence and the institutions of the whole country and the people of the nation must cooperate with all the millions who will come from all over the world to the country and work to ensure the success of Expo, which concerns the present and the future of the UAE,” said Mohammed Al Shaibani.
“At our first meeting, we discussed the practical steps that must be taken to create all the conditions and overcome the difficulties in order to make the Expo 2020 an exceptional global event” he added.
Expo Dubai, which starts October 2020, is set to receive about 25 million visits, with 70 percent of the visitors expected to attend the six-month event, which is the highest proportion of visitors from outside the host country in the history of Expo International.
