Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced temporary road closures on Thursday, February 6, due to the UAE Tour Women’s cycling race. The race, which is set to begin at 12:45 PM from the Dubai Police Officer’s Club, will conclude at Dubai Harbour at 4:40 PM
As part of the race route, 15 streets will be temporarily closed, with access restored after the last cyclist passes through. The affected roads are:
- Latifa Hospital Street
- Oud Metha Road
- Al Seef Street
- Corniche Street
- Al Khaleej Street
- Omar bin Al Khattab Street
- Baniyas Road
- Rebat Street
- Tripoli Street
- Zayed bin Hamdan
- Al Qudra Street
- Sayh As Salam Street
- Umm Suqeim Street
- King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street
- Dubai Harbour area
Drivers are advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra time to avoid any inconvenience.
The UAE Tour Women’s race, which spans from February 6 to February 9, features four challenging stages across the UAE. This year’s edition will see top cyclists like Elisa Longo Borghini, the winner of the inaugural 2023 edition, compete for the title. Longo Borghini, now racing for UAE Team ADQ, will be supported by fellow rider Silvia Persico, who took third place last year.
Other notable competitors include Mavi Garcia, Juliette Labous, Ashleigh Moolman Pasio, and Antonia Niedermaier, all of whom are strong contenders for the overall title. Sprint battles are also expected, with European champion Lorena Wiebes and Charlotte Kool among the favorites for stage victories.
The event will also showcase some of the biggest names in cycling, including Olympic gold medalist and 12-time world champion Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, as well as Paris-Roubaix Femmes winners Elizabeth Deignan and Alison Jackson.
