E-Sports stadium will be the region’s first stadium established in Dubai. ESports is an electronic sports in the form of video games. It’s a joint project between Dubai Media Office and TECOM Group that is expected to be a world class venue for e-Sports.
This joint initiative was endorsed by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Dubai Future Foundation under the Dubai 10X initiative at the Sixth World Government Summit, in February 2018.
The director general of Dubai Media Office Mona Ghanem Al Marri said, “We are living in a world where digital culture is reshaping all aspects of life including sports,”
The aim is to attract millions of e-Sports gamers, viewers and enthusiasts from around the world and offering them unique on-line and in-person experiences and grow e-Sports market to add to Dubai’s tourism revenues.
Seating capacities are generally in the hundreds and venues are set up so that it is easier to view action on the screen with great comfort due to events that typically last all day.
