Emirates Airline will start direct flights between Dubai and Edinburgh from October 1.
The chief executive Gordon Dewar said that Edinburgh Airport is the gateway to Scotland”.
The Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, West Hubert Frach said, “We’re increasing our capacity to Scotland to meet growing demand and by introducing a daily flight to Edinburgh. It will complement our current double daily flights between Dubai and Glasgow.”
Scotland’s transport minister Humza Yousaf said the new route will give Scottish businesses even better access to global markets.
The route will take seven hours each way is also conveniently timed for connecting Emirates’ flights to popular outbound destinations for Scottish travelers passing through Dubai.
It will be operated by an Emirates Boeing 777-300ER and feature 8 private First Class suites, 42 lie flat Business Class seats and 304 seats in Economy Class.
The Chief Executive of VisitScotland Malcom Roughhead said, “VisitScotland is delighted to welcome Emirates’ move to increase its daily services between Dubai and Scotland.”
