The chairman of the Expo 2020 Dubai Higher Committee Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum has signed the agreement with the chairperson and CEO of food and beverage company PepsiCo, Indra K Nooyi at the Expo 2020 site in Dubai South.
Expo 2020 Dubai has announced on Monday that PepsiCo will be the 10th of its 12 premier partners.
The two organizations will work together to encourage and educate the participants on areas of critical importance including water stewardship, sustainable packaging, agriculture and nutrition.
They have joined forces with a shared vision to work together towards a healthier and more sustainable future. The company will present its latest nutrition-driven initiatives, expanding on programs like ‘helloGoodness’.
Sheikh Ahmed said, “The increasing world population is straining the planet’s resources, generating an urgent need for more intelligent sources of nutrition, and packaging for snacks and beverages among other solutions.”
Indra Nooyi said, “The company shares Expo 2020’s belief that we must create a virtuous cycle that can sustain our way of life for the next generation and beyond”.
The signing ceremony was attended by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Expo 2020 Dubai Higher Committee Mohammed Al Shaibani, Director General of HH The Ruler’s Court, Government of Dubai and the CEO and Executive Director of the Investment Corporation of Dubai Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Expo 2020 Dubai’s Director General Indra K Nooyi, Chairman and CEO of PepsiCo Mike Spanos, PepsiCo Chief Executive Officer, PepsiCo Asia, Middle East and North Africa Omar Farid, President PepsiCo Middle East and North Africa.
The core theme was ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ and subthemes of Opportunity, Sustainability and Mobility are closely aligned to PepsiCo’s Performance with the Purpose of 2025 Agenda with its three focus areas of Products, Planet and People.
Expo 2020’s logo will be used on packaging for selected PepsiCo brands including Pepsi, Lay’s and Quaker Oats. Apart from PepsiCo, Expo 2020 has now announced 10 Official Premier Partners and two Official Partners including Cisco, DP World, Emirates Airlines, Emirates NBD, Etisalat, Nissan, SAP and Siemens, DEWA and UPS.
