Philippine Consulate officials and leaders of the Filipino expat community in Dubai celebrated 120th Philippine Independence Day on Tuesday.
The Philippines got independence on June 12, 1898 after three centuries of Spanish colonial rule. The Consul general Paul Raymund Cortes led the flag raising ceremony and listen to the Philippine national anthem.
A 10 year Dubai resident and Filipino expat Susan Francisco shared the same sentiments and defined independence as attaining economic freedom.
A grand celebration dedicated to the community will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre on Friday.
