GITEX Global 2024: The World’s Largest Tech Expo Showcases AI, Cybersecurity, and Startups

The largest technology show in the world, GITEX Global 2024, is now at its full swing at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Featuring state-of-the-art developments in a number of disciplines, such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. Over 3,500 firms from 180 countries are represented at the event, which takes place from October 14–18 and is the 44th edition of GITEX. Indicating an increase of 40% in foreign participation highlights the event’s popularity among the tech lovers on a global scale. Gitex Global provides an opportunity and forum for different businesses and organizations to introduce revolutionary products, collaborate and explore business prospects in the developing technology sector. 

With more than 120 hours of programming focused on examining AI applications in industries including healthcare, finance, and education, artificial intelligence is leading the way this year. With an emphasis on cloud infrastructure and data management, companies including Adobe, Google, NVIDIA, and Microsoft are exhibiting their most recent AI technology. Additionally, live demonstrations of autonomous systems, intelligent assistants, and robots operated by AI will be available to visitors.

DAY 1 at Gitex: Monday October’14 was marked as Tech Investment Day- Analyzed the most recent developments in investing that are changing the face of wealth globally. Find out how businesses are gaining previously unheard-of value from quantum computing, LLMs, and the metaverse, and why it’s so important for the next generation of entrepreneurs to stay ahead. Some of the key highlights of the day were:

• Yasmina MIDI by Yango- Yango unveiled “Yasmina,” a bilingual AI assistant that works in unison with smart home appliances to regulate lighting and climate control. Yango also showcased last-mile delivery robots, which are made to improve urban logistics by functioning effectively in any weather. With a focus on automated warehouse fulfillment solutions, the company also demonstrated its business-focused products, including Yango Maps, Yango Rides for Business, and Yango Robotics.

• Gorilla Technology Solutions- In partnership with Lanner Electronics, Gorilla Technology Solutions demonstrated AI-based cybersecurity and smart city infrastructure solutions. They prioritized real-time danger identification, video analytics, and smart patrolling.

Abu Dhabi Police unveiled the MK1, an autonomous patrol car that uses cutting-edge technology to improve law enforcement operations, at GITEX Global 2024. The MK1 is an AI-powered autonomous vehicle that can function without human assistance thanks to its numerous high-definition cameras, sensors, and onboard technologies. This prototype is a step toward automating patrol tasks, offering surveillance, and assisting law enforcement in more effectively monitoring urban areas.

The MK1’s launch fits into a larger trend at GITEX 2024, which showcased a number of smart city solutions, such as AI-based breakthroughs and autonomous technology to enhance safety and urban administration

• Ericsson’s 5G Technology– With captivating demonstrations, Ericsson demonstrated 5G technical advancements, such as enhanced uplink for livestreams and “telco AI” applications. The startup focuses on how companies may profit from 5G, with use cases in differentiated connectivity and network slicing. Additionally, Ericsson’s presentation discussed their goal of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) adopting 5G at a rate of 90% by 2029.
• AI National Skills Initiative: Launched by Microsoft in collaboration with UAE government entities, this program aims to train 100,000 government employees across Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah in AI. This initiative supports the UAE’s goal of becoming a global leader in AI by equipping government staff with essential AI skills

Day 2 at Gitex: Tuesday October 15 marked as Super AI Tuesday, Discover how AI is changing company strategy and opening up new growth prospects worldwide, from generative AI to intelligent automation.

• Palm ID by ICP- The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) of the United Arab Emirates introduced “Palm ID,” a contactless biometric identification system. By removing the requirement for physical identification and enabling users to confirm their identity by just scanning their palms, this technology seeks faster and secure access across multiple sectors. ICP spokesperson at Gitex 2024 said: “This mode of palm vein payments can also be used at crowded places like metro stations to make it easier for people to access services. Instead of a metrocard, people will be able to use a palm to access the metro. It is also highly secure because you can not share details with others, which sometimes people do for their credit cards.” “Once all the requirements are put in place, it will be rolled out for the public,” he added, marking Dubai as the first country in the Middle East to use this technology.

• • On October 15, 2024, G42’s “Intelligence Grid” was unveiled at GITEX Global 2024. This platform is a component of G42’s larger AI infrastructure plan, which aims to provide scalable AI solutions for a range of industries, such as smart cities, healthcare, and energy. Reflecting G42’s vision for the future of AI in the UAE and beyond, the “Intelligence Grid” seeks to improve operational efficiency by combining advanced AI and data analytics.​

• Presight’s Intelli Platform- The platform is an AI-driven solution made to streamline operations in a number of industries, such as energy, transportation, and smart city infrastructure. It makes use of generative AI to boost productivity and offer data-driven insights, which is consistent with Presight’s emphasis on digital transformation using cutting-edge AI technology.

• InSilico Medicine’s AI for Drug Discovery– The business showcased its AI-powered drug discovery solutions, emphasizing how computational techniques and machine learning could speed up the creation of novel pharmaceutical molecules. This exhibit was a component of a larger exhibition showing how AI is revolutionizing healthcare innovation and research.
• Quantum Mobility Quest: Airbus showcased how quantum computing could revolutionize the aviation industry, indicating future developments in aircraft design and operation by overcoming current computational limitations​

Day 3 at Gitex: October’16 marked as Cybersecurity Day  following remained the key highlights of the day:

• Cybersecurity Innovations: With its Singularity Platform, SentinelOne highlighted AI-driven cybersecurity solutions, demonstrating developments in predictive analytics and automated threat identification. Additionally, they unveiled “Purple AI,” which enhances human judgment by offering insights gleaned from in-depth data research.
• Spire Solutions: With an emphasis on ransomware defense, digital forensics, and cloud security, the company demonstrated a variety of AI-powered cybersecurity tools. Tools like Rapid7 for threat detection and Halcyon for anti-ransomware were part of their display. Best practices for digital risk management and the incorporation of AI into current tech stacks were also discussed.
• Google Cloud demonstrated its advantages for companies looking for integrated, scalable cloud solutions by highlighting its extensive AI infrastructure. The platform’s generative AI models and specially made chips were highlighted in its design, which aimed to improve data processing, security, and collaborative tools. The goal of this integration was to equip businesses with cutting-edge AI technologies to promote efficiency and change.
• Bosch and Rain Capital made important contributions to conversations about investments in cybersecurity. While Ekaterina Serban from Bosch talked about ways to incorporate cybersecurity practices into corporate structures and emphasized the value of board-level involvement in cybersecurity decisions, Chenxi Wang from Rain Capital discussed the rise in international investments and mergers in the cybersecurity space.
• Along with new products centered on identity verification, cloud security, and mobile threat protection, companies like Darktrace and CrowdStrike were also present, highlighting the application of AI to predict and avoid cybersecurity threats.

Expand North Star (October 13-16, 2024)

Expand North Star offered a preview of the future of robots, artificial intelligence, and deep technology with its next-generation solutions. China’s RoboCT, which unveiled the UGo Rehab Exoskeleton, was one of the notable innovators. The UGo, which uses cutting-edge sensors and data analysis, improves therapy for individuals with cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries, strokes, and lower-limb dysfunction. “UGo improves the rehabilitation process and provides an efficient walking training solution, enabling patients to rehabilitate more effectively at home,” said Dr. Tian Wang, Founder and CEO of RoboCT Group. With its generative AI models for forecasting the course of diseases, the Indian-born deep tech startup scanO is setting the standard. They unveiled scanO air, the first contactless robotic technology for oral health screening driven by AI that is transforming early diagnosis and detection.

Day 4 at Gitex:  October 17, Data Centres Universe- attendees will get a chance to Learn about the infrastructure and data management of the future. Examine the latest developments in data center technology, environmentally friendly energy options, and the critical role data centers play in facilitating the rapid expansion of digital services.There will be a focus on green technologies and smart urban planning, reflecting Dubai’s vision for sustainable development. The event will feature panels on renewable energy, green data centers, and IoT solutions for smart city infrastructures.

Day 5 at Gitex: October 18, Futuristic Friday- featuring  groundbreaking technologies like quantum computing, advanced robotics, and space tech redefining the boundaries of possibility. Companies like Horizon Quantum Computing will demonstrate advancements in quantum technologies and their potential impact on sectors such as finance, healthcare, and logistics. The final day will feature a special focus on Pakistan as the ‘Tech Destination of the Year,’ highlighting collaborations and start-up success stories that demonstrate the country’s growing tech ecosystem.

As GITEX Global 2024 develops, it will remain a venue for revealing cutting-edge innovations and fostering international tech partnerships, strengthening Dubai’s position as an essential hub for digital innovation and business.
