Additionally, they continue adorning their homes with vibrant hues and sharing special treats like nuts and chocolates with children.
In anticipation of the occasion, families buy traditional sweets and nuts as gifts before welcoming visiting children. Various entities across the UAE organize events to commemorate Hag Al Laila, fostering an understanding and appreciation of the country’s traditions.
In Dubai, the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority is set to organize heritage activities to celebrate Hag Al Laila in the historic neighborhood of Al Shindagha. Among the planned activities is a jewelry-making workshop titled ‘Crafting Marriya Umm Al Schnaff,’ designed to inspire children to delve into the traditional art of jewelry making.
Additional workshops will delve into the origins and crafting of traditional Emirati attire, emphasizing its significance in local culture. Furthermore, a henna workshop will teach children the art of blending henna and creating unique designs.
Children will also have the chance to gather gifts and sweets and engage in popular games like ‘Al Karabi’ and ‘Shad Al Habl’ as they move between houses, singing ‘Atoona Hag Al Laila,’ a song that underscores the importance of giving and sharing during this auspicious night.
