How to Renew Your Involuntary Loss of Employment (ILOE) Insurance in the UAE

Implemented in 2022, the Involuntary Loss of Employment (ILOE) insurance is a mandatory insurance plan for select categories of employees in the emirates of UAE as per the Federal Decree-Law No. (13) OF 2022.
The UI policy therefore seeks to assist unemployed UAE citizens and other foreign expatriate residents in the event that they lose their jobs.
It is also relevant to note that since the insurance policy has been in place for the past year, many residents are now interested in renewing their ILOE subscriptions.

How can you renew an ILOE insurance in the UAE?

After it is closer to the current policy’s expiry, you will receive a text message notification for the renewal. ILOE insurance enables you to renew your policy before it expires or even a few days after the policy expires.
Here is a quick step-by-step guide for your ease:
• Go to the ILOE insurance site: https://www.iloe.ae/
• If you are here to renew your insurance policy, go ahead and click on the red button that says ‘Subscribe/Renew Here’.
• You will be prompted by a pop-up message, and you must click on the ‘Subscribe Here’ option. It will take you to a new webpage.
• Next to the option labeled ‘Individual,’ choose the suitable sub-option from the list. There are 3 options: Private sector, Federal government employee- public sector or Not recorded by Ministry of Human Resources and Emulation (Free zone employees).
• Click ‘confirm’.
• Login using an OTP code received on your registered mobile number OR on your Registered User ID if you have one. You will be presented with the choice to continue the insurance policy.
• Click on the ‘Renew’ or ‘Subscribe’ button and then you will be directed to a card payment section.
• If the payment is successful, your ILOE insurance will be renewed for another year automatically.
Ineligible for the ILOE insurance:
The ILOE insurance is not mandatory for individuals in the following categories:
• Nannies and cleaners.
• Persons under the age of 18 years.
• Employers or people who own the companies they are contracted to work for.
• UAE citizens who have met the requirements for referral to retirement.
• Employees who retired with a pension but also took up new employment.

Subscription to the UAE’s ILOE insurance scheme is obligatory by law if you are a government or private sector employee (even Freezone workers must have an ILOE subscription).
A fine of AED 400 will be asked of workers who decline to sign up or renew their ILOE insurance policy.
