What is ILOE Insurance?

The Involuntary Loss of Employment (ILOE) scheme provides financial cover for an employee if he loses his job not on his own accord, but because of reasons such as termination. For purposes of claim disbursement for the worker that is availed of this ILOE scheme, up to 60 percent of the claimant’s basic salary can be availed or can be claimed maximum for not exceeding three months in a single claim situation if there has been a premium payment of the worker for a minimum of 12 continuous months.

ILOE subscription amounts and other benefits:

  • Category A (Basic Salary Rs. 16,000 or below):
    • Premium: 5 plus VAT per month
    • Compensation: Maximum up to Rs. 10,000 per month for three months at maximum
  • Category B (Basic salary greater than Rs. 16,000):
    • Premium: 10 plus VAT per month
    • Compensation: Up to Rs. 20,000 per month for up to three months.

This change in policy will also bring about simplification into the process and the type of coverage that employees are able to get in these cases of involuntary job loss.
