Apple, for a while now, has served as the benchmark for mobile devices, and the iPhone SE is really the best choice any consumer would want to spend money on if they’re looking at entering the world of iOS but without spending their entire savings. It’s nearly two years since the iPhone SE 3 hit stores, and rumors over the iPhone SE 4, set to drop next March, are slowly beginning to emerge.
Yet another activity from Apple’s camera technology partner, LG Innotek, confirms that timeline. The company claims to be prepared to begin mass production of the camera modules for the iPhone SE 4 in December. Mass production preparation is a process deemed typically to be done three months before the commercial release. This timeline fits well with earlier predictions from sources like MacRumors which also hinted at early 2025. Moreover, Apple has been consistent in releasing its last three SE models in March, making the forecast even more plausible.
A Bigger Screen and Refined Design
Other notable upgrades of the iPhone SE 4, though, are the shift from a 4.7-inch LCD display to a larger 6.1-inch OLED screen that would make it almost the same size as the iPhone 15. This is a beauty more than just a size upgrade; for this time, it adopts the full and all-screen design that does away with the traditional home button and Touch ID instead of opting for Face ID. This latest design makes the SE 4 fit with Apple’s recent flagships, which appeals to users who find modern designs for smartphones appealing.
Upgrades on Charging and Camera
Another highly awaited change is from the Lightning port to USB-C, intended to comply with the European Union’s legislation regarding common standards for universal charging. The change would be convenient, as users could charge using one kind of connector in multiple devices.
On the camera front, the iPhone SE 4 is in line for a major upgrade, with a 48MP single-lens rear camera—up from the current 12MP. That said, it won’t have the multi-lens setups of the higher-end iPhones, the resolution is going to be way higher, promising much better image quality. Additionally, enhancements to Night Mode and inclusion of Apple’s advanced photo processing feature, hitherto found only on premium variants, will further elevate the performance in low-light photography.
Slight Price Hike Expected
While exciting upgrades abound, consumers can expect a slight hike in price. According to rumors, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to begin at under $500, an increase from the SE 3’s starting price of $430. This seems to be due to the increased cost of materials and manufacturing as well as some significant improvements in display and charging technology.
The iPhone SE 4 promises to be one of the biggest updates for Apple’s low-cost smartphone offerings. It will have a bigger display and a more modern design, an improved camera with better capabilities, and more versatile charging options. All this would attract not only budget-conscious consumers but also all of those who need a well-rounded iPhone experience. As we approach its much-anticipated launch in March 2025, all eyes will surely be glued to how Apple continues to innovate in this space.
