Jet ski owners in Dubai Police will face fines of up to Dh5,000

Penalties as high as Dh 5,000 were levied as Dubai Police recorded 160 offenses against those operating the jet ski. The police also arrested the owners of other categories of sea transport means for 52 offenses in the past two months.

Some of the infringements included the operation of jet skis without valid licenses, and operationalization within prohibited areas popular utterances were cases whereby the jet Ski went to the swimming zone, hotel beach, failure to operate during the right time, lack of life jackets, operation of recreational maritime vessels under-aged persons and overloading of the vessels.

This was in a press brief whereby Brigadier Dr Hassan Suhail the director Port police station stated that the violations occurred within the various beachfronts in the emirate of Dubai.

He also said that operating a jet ski with an expired license attracts a fine of Dh1,000 while operating the same at unauthorized times will attract a Dh2,000 fine. Also, failure to adhere to provided rules attracts a fine of up to Dh 5,000 to anyone operating jet skis in banned zones in the emirate.

Brig Suhail also emphasized not to overcrowd the watercraft for the sake of the user’s life and safety and about the fine of Dh3,000 one has to pay for if he does not wear necessary safety equipment on a watercraft.
