The World Ambassador to Expo 2020 is moving Dubai, Lionel Messi to the world with the “Together for a Better World” message in his first photo campaign for Expo 2020 Dubai.
The 60-second short film shows the world football star and people from different parts of the world who communicate in the language of football that everybody understands, pass the 2020 FIFA among themselves and cooperate together so that the ball does not fall on the ground. The video was filmed in the UAE, India, Britain, Spain, and Kenya, celebrating cultural diversity and its ability to break barriers.
“When people come together from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds, we can meet global challenges and create a better future for future generations,” said Lionel Messi.

Messi, a United Nations sustainable development goals advocate and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, was appointed a global ambassador to Expo 2020 in Dubai in 2016 to support the objectives of Expo to create a lasting footprint in the path of human progress, build a better future and instill the values of positive change.
“As one of the best players in the history of football, Lionel Messi captures the role of Expo 2020 in stimulating new ideas, innovation, and progress,” said Sanjeev Khosla, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Expo 2020. Dubai uses football to show people that when they communicate and collaborate, and they can make a better future for all of us.
This is the first campaign of the “Expo 2020” with the Argentinian star, who has a track record of awards and titles. In his 13-year career, he has won the Golden Ball five times, the European Golden Shoe Four times, and the FIFA World Player of the Year.
The work was produced by a multinational team. The film uses Arabic music and a call to the Federation in the words of an African language. As part of this campaign, Expo 2020 will distribute twenty-two thousand children’s footballs in Jordan, Kenya, and the Philippines, or 6060 footballs in total. These balls represent the goal of Expo to facilitate cooperation and to promote links among members of communities and to spread happiness in them.
Expo 2020 Dubai is the first international expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, the largest event of its kind in the Arab world. It will be open for six months from 20 October 2020 under the theme “Connect minds and make the future”.
