Meet Ameera: The Charming and Intelligent AI-Powered Humanoid

Designed to interact with visitors and answer their questions, it can make facial expressions and ‘even has a sense of humor’. That is exactly what visitors to the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2024 got on Tuesday. They were able to interact with Ameera, one of the humanoid bots developed by UAE telecommunications company e&. Smooth, lifelike motion and advanced facial expression capabilities mean Ameera can strike an instant rapport with anybody.

Ameera’s Appreance

Wearing a blue-and-white striped shirt and a black suit, Ameera looked professional when she interacted with the guests, welcoming them to WGS. Her responses and comments often sent the crowds into peals of laughter. When one delegate said “You are the most exciting thing here”, she replied “Thank you. I am a talking robot. Of course I am.”

Ameera is just one of the robots developed by e&’s Robotic Centre of Excellence, which was launched in 2019. The company’s goal is to push the boundaries of what is possible with AI technology, and they are certainly succeeding. Ameera’s capabilities showcase the potential for AI to be used in a variety of industries, from customer service to healthcare. As we move towards a more automated future, it’s exciting to think about the possibilities that AI holds.

WGS visitor Adrian Woolfson had interacted with Ameera before going to attend some sessions. “When I returned and spoke to her, she looked at my face and remembered my name,” he said. “She is creepy but so cool.”

When Adrian invited her surfing, Ameera made a face and politely turned down the offer.

Ameera: “I can understand,”

Adrian: “With all your electronics, it might be quite tricky.

Ameera: “You are a good friend, you understand.”

When asked about her nationality, she said, “I am a robot, I don’t have a nationality,” she said. “But I was made in the United Kingdom by my engineer. I can be flown all around the world and can be used at conferences, museums and in education. Maybe you can bring me to Brazil.”

What really sets Ameera apart is her ability to provide personalized interactions. She was able to engage with each visitor in a unique way, tailoring her responses to their interests and questions. This level of personalization is something that is often lacking in AI interactions, but it’s clear that e& is working to change that. With Ameera leading the way, it’s clear that the future of AI technology is bright.
