Dubai Municipality’s Waste Management Department has focused on special cleaning operations during the month of Ramadan. They have arranged 2,200 workers and increased the number of sweeping equipment.
The plan will include cleaning water channels including Dubai Creek, Jaddaf creek, Business Bay Canal, Dubai Water Canal, Deira Harbour Canal and surrounding waterways.
The Director of Waste Management Department at Dubai Municipality, Eng. Abdulmajeed Sifai said the work plan has been completed which will also include regulating and scheduling of work at the waste dumps of the Department.
Sifai also said, “We have provided the equipments to the field teams which will cover the entire Emirates through four round the clock shifts. We have distributed 242 additional garbage baskets near mosques and places of Ramadan events and Iftar tents.”
He said, “We have formed an emergency team consisting of 12 supervisory and regulatory staff, 65 cleaners prepared with the necessary safety equipment and tools and 37 different mechanisms and equipment for the collection and transfer of waste for the purpose of immediate handling of communications and complaints from public during the Iftar time.”
Sifai added that the Waste Management Department will launch the “Shop Smartly And Reduce Your Waste” initiative which invites shoppers to contribute in reducing waste through smart shopping through a variety of sustainable environmental methods such as paper bags instead of plastic.
