UAE Cabinet has approved the official national holidays for the Public and Private sectors for the year 2019-2020.
Saturday, November 9, has been announced as the official bank holiday across UAE so people who work on Saturdays will get two days off and others will continue with the same schedule. The holiday has been announced to mark the birthday of the Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him).
The UAE cabinet announced the holidays on 31st October for 2019 and 2020. Along with the November 9, there are three more days off this year from Sunday, 1st of December 2019 (Commemoration Day) to Tuesday, 3rd December (National Day). So everyone who has Saturday off will enjoy a long weekend of 5 days.
In 2020, there are a total of seven national holidays that the working class will be able to enjoy starting from 1st January 2020 (New Year’s Day), the holidays for Eid al Fitr, Eid Al Adha and Arafat Day will be announced based on the moon-sightings. The Prophet’s Birthday holiday will be on October 29, and the Commemoration day and National days will be on the same dates however it will fall from Tuesday till Thursday.
