New project on health insurance for UAE tourist visas publicized

 

The announcement of the health insurance project for the tourist visa has been disclosed by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP).

This measure is beneficial for the country and its tourist and healthcare industries as it consolidates the organization and regulation of health insurance for tourist visa, which will increase the status of the country’s competitiveness in term of residency and travel, according to ICP.

The project was green-lit due to becoming one of the transformative projects for the second cycle 2023-2024 in the performance agreements that were given the go-ahead by the Prime Minister.

A transformative project can be defined as a qualitative improvement initiative that takes the country to the future and has a positive effect on the competitiveness of the country, organizations as well as individuals; It is expected that an impact of a transformative project will be experienced in all sectors in the short run.

Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili – director general of the authority – said in a media statement, “The project also involves development that aims at coming up with health insurance for tourist visas at the state level through the electronic platform in a bid to facilitate the process of coming up with health insurance while applying for tourist visas through the services system.”

He also said that the implementation of this transformational project is in accordance with the ‘We Are the Emirates 2031’ vision, as it supports the work and projects that are being undertaken in a view to constructing the most dynamic and competitive economy in the world.

He said, “The priorities and objectives of our authority are the development of the tourism sector in the UAE by attracting visitors from all over the world desiring to come and visit this beautiful country and ensuring that they and their families are offered health insurance in case of emergencies.”

He stated that it would also help the health care system in the country by rising the operating mobility of health care entities and the operating revenues, apart from regulating and enabling the processes of providing health insurance for tourist visas to customers and automating the health insurance for visas via the electronic platform which undertakes the job of pricing.
