As the eyes of the world are cast in awe upon Dubai’s celebrations of the New Year, the right measures for all to enjoy themselves would be put in place. More than 10,000 security personnel have been deployed and more than 200 ambulances stationed to usher in the New Year’s Eve in Dubai. Fireworks would light up the skies from 36 spots across the city marking the New Year with incredibly spectacular visuals.
New Year’s Eve in Dubai: Road Closures, Parking, Fireworks
From 4 PM on December 31 onwards, all the major roads within and around Downtown Dubai will be closed. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Burj Khalifa Street, and Financial Centre Street are some of the key areas that will be cordoned off. The authorities strongly suggest that visitors should arrive before 4 PM to avoid delays. Sheikh Zayed Road will gradually close starting 11 PM. It is preferred to use the metro so as not to encounter heavy traffic since Centrepoint, Etisalat e&, and Jebel Ali have parking options available.
Public Transport and Parking
An additional 20,000 parking spaces are created at the Dubai Mall, Zabeel, and Emaar Boulevard for those driving up to the areas, according to the RTA. Finally, space will be available at Al Wasl Club (500 spaces) and Al Jaffiliya (400 spaces), with shuttle service transporting guests between 3 PM and major celebration locations. Dubai Metro will operate from 5 AM on December 31 through the end of January 1, while Dubai Tram will service from 6 AM until 1 AM on January 2. Notably, there is closure of the Dubai Mall Metro Station from 5 PM.
