Pakistan Passport Renewal in UAE: Everything You Need to Know

The Passport Renewal process for Pakistani passport holders will only take place through the online portal. However, residents will have to visit the Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai or the Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi in case of any new passport applications.

The passport renewal process can be tedious when you are in a different country. The process might be time-consuming, and several documents must be presented to approve the renewal request. Similarly, to renew your Pakistani passport in UAE, specific guidelines must be followed.

Please note that the government portal does not offer services for the following categories:

  • New passport. The initial issuance of Machine-Readable Passport.
  • Modification. In the case of applicants wishing to incorporate changes to their existing
  • Machine-Readable Passport.

Pakistan passport renewal process

Documents required

Before applying, please have the following ready:

  • Supporting documents
  • Photograph up to 5MB. Must be in accordance with the photograph tutorial
  • A fingerprint form. Must be completed in accordance with the fingerprint tutorial
  • A valid credit card to complete your online payment

General applicants

The following documents are required while applying for a renewal of a machine-readable passport through an online passport service provided that their current passport is expiring within a period of 12 months:

  • Colour scanned copies of valid Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) or National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) or Smart CNIC or NICOP (both sides)
  • Colour scanned copies of existing passport (the first two pages and one random page prompted by the system)
  • Colour scanned copy of a valid visa/iqama/residence permit/asylum card/any other nationality passport

Minors under the age of 18

The following documents are pre-requisite for the issuance of passports to minors below 18 years:

  • Colour scanned copies of valid NICOP or smart card (both sides) or a computerized B-form or Family Registration Certificate
  • Colour scanned copies of the parents’ valid national ID cards (both sides)
  • Guardianship certificate/court decision in case of separation
  • Colour scanned copy of the minor’s attestation form
  • Colour scanned copy of death certificate(s) if either the mother or father has passed away
  • Colour scanned copy of valid visa/iqama/residence permit/asylum card/other nationality passports

Pakistan passport renewal application and tracking

Once you have assembled all the necessary documents, you may start your online passport renewal application via the link https://onlinemrp.dgip.gov.pk. Since you are applying from outside of Pakistan, all required codes will be sent via email only.

Users already registered in the Pak-identity system can log in using their registered Pak-identity “Username” and “Password.” If you have not done so, create a new application. After completing your registration, simply follow the steps below:

  • Start the passport renewal application and provide the required details
  • Provide your address for your passport delivery
  • Pay the fee using a credit or debit card
  • Provide the required personal details
  • Provide your present and permanent addresses
  • Upload your photograph.
  • Upload the supporting documents required by the application.
  • Download the form, and capture the four fingerprints asked by the system.
  • Set the scanner at 600 DPI, JPEG/JPG and Grayscale. Scan and upload the form.
  • Review the information you provided, sign the declaration, and submit the application.

Assuming all the necessary requirements have been assembled, the entire application process may take up to 16 minutes. After completing the application, your passport will be delivered to you via DHL Courier Services. The delivery time varies according to the delivery address you provided.

However, certain individuals are unable to apply for passports through online portals.

  • Individuals applying for a new passport cannot utilize the online service and must visit the embassy in person
  • If an applicant seeks changes to their existing passport details while renewing it (such as name, parent’s name, date of birth, profession, marital status, etc.), online renewal is not an option
  • Applicants requiring a new passport due to all previous pages being utilized cannot apply online during renewal
  • If an applicant has lost their passport and requires a replacement, they must visit the embassy in person as an online application is not available in this circumstance
