All public transportation in the UAE, including the Dubai Metro, will come to a halt from 8pm on March 26 until 6am on March 29, according to the Ministry of Health and Community Protection and the Ministry of Interior.
The halt is being applied as a result of a Nationwide Sterilisation Programme. A three-day national sterilisation programme will be carried out to sanitise all public facilities, streets, public transportation and metro service, as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of coronavirus.
To be carried out by the Ministry of Health and Prevention and the Ministry of Interior in coordination with all relevant federal and local entities, the sterilisation plan, which will start from 8pm on Thursday until 6am Sunday.
Citizens and residents are urged to stay at home for the duration of the program.
Exemptions include vital sectors include energy, banking, communications, postal services, shipping, water and food, civil aviation and construction.
