RTA inaugurates First Smart Floating Station at Dubai Festival City

Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), opened the Smart Floating Station for Dubai Festival City, the first floating station in the UAE, to accommodate more than 25 passengers. By linking the maritime transport service (Al Jaddaf Line Dubai Festival City) with the public transport bus service and Al Khor Dubai Metro Station.

Al Abra will be operated every 10 minutes between Dubai Festival City and Al Jaddaf. The station operates daily from 7 am to 12 pm and is priced at AED 2.

Mattar Al Tayer inspected the facilities of Dubai Festival City, which has grown significantly from 42,863 passengers in 2016 to 187,000 passengers in 2017 and rose by 24 percent to 245,000 passengers in 2018. The station features a sea-inspired design, Its compatibility with the standards of green buildings, its connection with the pier, the provision of shaded outer areas, the possibility of the future expansion of the stations, and its transportability to another site. The building of the terminal was considered to provide special facilities for owners, security and safety requirements, A view of the Dubai Creek, as well as Tets The station is able to accommodate various shipping modes including Al Ferry, Water Bus, Water Taxi, Heritage Passage and Air Conditioned Gate. It also has a location close to Al Jadaf Shipping Station, Al Khor Metro Station, and Public Transport Bus Station, located on the opposite side of Dubai Creek.

The maritime transport sector has witnessed a steady growth in the number of transport vehicles, stations, and passengers since the inauguration of Dubai Water Channel linking the Dubai Creek to the Arabian Gulf coasts.
