Dubai drivers would witness changes in toll pricing starting from January 31, wherein variable toll rates would be adopted by Salik, the operator of the city’s road toll system. The change would affect the toll rates that would now depend on the time of the day and day of the week, with different charges during peak and off-peak hours.
New Toll Rates:
- Weekdays (Monday to Saturday):
- Peak Hours (6am to 10am, 4pm to 8pm): Dh6
- Off-Peak Hours (10am to 4pm, 8pm to 1am): Dh4
- Late Night (1am to 6am): No toll charge
- Sundays (excluding public holidays, special occasions, or major events):
- All day: Dh4
- Late Night (1am to 6am): No toll charge
The variable pricing system will apply throughout the year, except during the holy month of Ramadan, when special timings and rates will be in effect.
Salik’s Toll Rates During Ramadan:
- Weekdays (Monday to Saturday):
- Peak Hours (9am to 5pm): Dh6
- Off-Peak Hours (7am to 9am, 5pm to 2am): Dh4
- Late Night (2am to 7am): No toll charge
- Sundays (excluding public holidays, special occasions, or major events):
- All Day: Dh4
- Late Night (2am to 7am): No toll charge
Salik, however, has cited that the system will not change except for the toll gates of Al Safa North, Al Safa South, Al Mamzar North, and Al Mamzar South, where no toll is charged if the vehicle passes through the same direction within one hour.
Changes in Parking Fees:
Variable toll rates will accompany the introduction of the Variable Parking Tariff Policy, which will commence by March 2025. Under this policy, parking charges would vary depending on the time of day:
- Premium Parking Spaces:
- Peak Hours (8am to 10am, 4pm to 8pm): Dh6 per hour
- Other Public Paid Parking Spaces: Dh4 per hour
- Off-Peak Hours (10am to 4pm, 8pm to 10pm): Regular charges
- Free Parking (10pm to 8am, all day Sunday): No charge
Also, a Congestion Pricing Policy is to come into effect in areas around events that include a Dh25 per hour charge for parking close to major events at locations such as Dubai World Trade Center from February 2025.
