The Spanish consortium said on Thursday that a high speed railway link between Makkah and Madinah in Saudi Arabia will finally start operating in September with four trains per week.
The aims is to improve transport between the two cities during the hajj pilgrimage. The 444 kilometres (275 miles) of track between Makkah and Madinah will be providing 35 trains.
Spanish daily El Mundo reported on Thursday that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman visited Spain last month in resolving the disagreements over the delays in completing the project.
