His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and the Ruler of Dubai, has approved the construction of more than 3000 homes to welcome and support young Emiratis starting families. The entire undertaking cost approximately Dh5.4 billion and was undertaken within a broader effort to improve family stabilization and enhance the quality of life of citizens.
This housing project coincides with the launching of the Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Program on January 4, focusing on work-life integration and increasing family ties, financial, social, and education support for Emirati families.
In announcing the approval, Sheikh Mohammed said: “We’re making it easy and providing affordable housing, better quality of life, and above all, getting our young people to marry.” “This is going to be about encouraging young people to get married, providing them decent housing for families, and improving the quality of life for our young as they start life.”
It will create a total of 3,004 new housing units scattered around different regions in Dubai and will be allocated to priority users taking part in the Dubai Weddings initiative. This initiative is aimed at easing economic and logistical challenges, which often characterize young Emiratis’ lives at the beginning of setting up their families. The distribution of these houses will be as follows:
It was also emphasized by Sheikh Mohammed that the evolution specifically has been developed under a larger strategy towards progressive prosperity, stability, and comfort of all the citizens of the UAE. “Hind bint Maktoum, Hamdan bin Mohammed, Maktoum bin Mohammed, and I will continue supporting everything that contributes towards prosperity, stability, and comfort for our citizens,” he asserted.
This newly launched initiative on the Accession Day of Sheikh Mohammed is underlining the importance attached to family strength and empowerment for future generations. In a gesture of love towards his wife, Sheikh Mohammed, in a statement, dedicated this year’s Accession Day to Sheikha Hind, referring to her as “the soul of Dubai,” calling her “my greatest supporter.”
Housing support aside, the Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Program also accommodates benefits for all government employees such as a marriage leave of 10 days with pay, remote work for mothers in the first 12 months following maternity leave, and reduced housing loans premiums of Dh3,333 for participants disadvantaged monthly income levels lower than Dh30,000.
