The smart paid parking service in Sharjah is now operational, thereby making it easy for residents and visitors to find and pay for parking spaces in the city. The new service was announced by the Sharjah Municipality on Sunday to stress the advanced technology being employed to facilitate parking.
Powered by artificial intelligence (AI), this ingenious system automatically detects the vehicles’ number plates at the time of entry into specific parking areas. It offers drivers an efficient and smooth parking experience since they do not have to look for parking meters or take tickets.
Motorists can use the Mawqef app to pay for parking, which allows payment via e-wallet or credit card. The new system gives users the flexibility to pay per hour or pay for longer periods ranging from one day to one year. It will also allow motorists to pay weekly or monthly, thus granting them the greatest convenience possible for their short or extended parking.
This smart parking launch fits Sharjah’s ongoing endeavors to provide increased urban mobility and, thus, innovative solutions to better its infrastructure. In addition, it reflects a wider trend against smart technologies being increasingly used within the UAE for respective sectors, including transport and urban planning.
With the easy-to-use Mawqef app, Sharjah residents and visitors can now enjoy an instant parking experience with real-time updates and secure payment options. This initiative represents a giant leap toward modernizing the city parking management system, thus expected to contribute to the reduction of traffic congestion and enhance the overall accessibility of the city.
With the smart parking service now operational, users are encouraged to download the Mawqef app and start taking advantage!
