By using ‘Smart’ inspection vehicles, Restricted activities, violations, and damages in the Dubai Metro and Tram will be recognized. The RTA has now started the trials of these vehicles that have cameras and “advanced intelligence systems”. They will indicate rail right-of-way places.
During an interview, the director of the Rail Right of Way Bulletin, Abdulrahman Al Janahi said that the smart vehicles will be helpful in ensuring the rail transport system in the Dubai area.
As he stated, ‘This technology shall assist us in the efficiency of the inspections we conduct while at the same time also assisting in reviewing of problems and addressing them as early as possible so that we guarantee that the rail services which are provided are safe and reliable.’
He also noted that ‘the smart inspection vehicle will help in incorporating the use of artificial intelligence to help capture the advancement of the rail network.’
The further targeted work is suggested to expand the areas of inspection to 100%, and doubling the rate of preparing reports, yet ensuring the results’ accuracy. This also tries to reduce the possibility of mistakes that are characteristic of humans in the inspection process and provide backup in coming up with sound decisions.
