Space Tourism is Now a Possibility for UAE Residents

One of the new initiatives is likely to make space tourism more cost-effective for UAE residents, and this may just be the answer with accessible space travel offered by Space Perspective. There will apparently be a launch site set up in Dubai that will allow passengers to view the Burj Khalifa at the edge of the space.

Michael Savage, CEO of Space Perspective, underscored the potential charm in launching from Dubai when you imagine that the view over iconic landmarks such as Palm Island would be really unforgettable. “This is one of the most beautiful areas we could launch from,” Savage said.

SpaceVIP, a project partner, believes it can take its operations to the region, with considerable interest from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Saudi Arabia. According to Co-Founder and CEO Roman Chiporukha, “When we have found the right partner, we are looking to operate from here.”

Compared to rocket-based space travel, this is much less grueling, having no such lengthy preparation needed for passengers or the usual intense G-force pressures. Passengers will board a pressurized capsule carried by a hydrogen balloon to the edge of space at a comfortable speed of 12 miles per hour. The amount for the six-hour experience is around Dh460,000, which will see half of it spent at the edge of space, with comforting luxury seats, large windows, and dining, thanks to a Michelin-starred chef.

So far, the company sold 1,800 tickets and has a significant backlog of 225 million, with an astonishing percentage coming from middle-class families eager to make space tourism accessible.
