His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, recently announced the UAE’s new space project named Etihad-SAT, which is to be launched… high tech and highly sophisticated satellite systems that will pioneer imaging capabilities, especially in relation to the monitoring of our weather and will be equipped with the latest Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) technology this March 2025.
The satellite was realized through the strategic collaboration of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre and the Satrec Initiative of South Korea. The partnership developed an advanced tool that will aid in the expanding presence of the UAE in the global space arena.
In his part, Sheikh Hamdan noted the determination of the UAE of being a leading nation in space exploration and how knowledge will empower that. “No limits exist for our ambitions in the space sector,” he stated. “We strongly believe in the capabilities of our youth to advance the UAE’s global leadership in space exploration, thus shaping a better future for humanity.”
Etihad-SAT is yet another pivotal step in the quickened space program of the UAE, further reinforcing the country’s position as a global leader in technology and exploration. Its launch will mark a progressive milestone for the UAE towards contributions in terms of research and data collection within space.
