Now passengers with connecting flights to the UAE will be allowed to visit country’s landmark and tourist attraction.
According to the UAE Cabinet, the aim of new policy is to enhance the transit procedure and to provide stopover passengers an opportunity to spend a day in the country. In 2017, 70 per cent of the passengers who passed through UAE airports were stopover passengers.
The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship has been given the charge to work on the new policy and to consider the positive impact it will have on the tourism sector.
To boost tourism in the country, the authority is working on visa fees and the ways through which the number of transit visitors will be increased.
