UAE: Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan grants Golden Visas to veteran imams, muezzins, muftis

In a gesture to showcase its dedication to honoring religious leaders and scholars Dubai has announced the granting of golden visas to veteran imams, muezzins, and religious scholars who have dedicated over two decades of service to the emirate.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai has personally led this initiative.

Recognizing the significant contributions of these individuals in fostering religious harmony and spreading the teachings of Islam, Sheikh Hamdan issued an order to extend the golden visas to imams, preachers, muezzins, Muftis, and religious scholars who have faithfully served Dubai for more than 20 years.

Furthermore, Sheikh Hamdan has directed the provision of financial rewards to these esteemed figures, coinciding with the joyous occasion of Eid Al Fitr.

This generous gesture not only acknowledges their unwavering dedication but also serves as a token of appreciation for their tireless efforts in disseminating the true essence of Islam and promoting the values of tolerance within the diverse fabric of Dubai’s society.

In March, Sheikh Hamdan ordered an increase in the salaries of imams and muezzins in Dubai. The hike will apply to those serving in mosques operating under Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department.

Imams are religious leaders who guide the faithful towards living by the principles of Islam. Muezzins are officials who proclaim the call to prayer.

The salary increase also recognizes the dedication of preachers in overseeing religious affairs and upholding constructive societal principles.

The President had directed the provision of a monthly financial allowance equivalent to 50 per cent of the basic salary for all mosque staff, including imams and muezzins working under the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments (GAIAE).
