UAE Healthcare Worker Licensing Now Under a Unified Platform

The UAE is preparing to set up a unified national platform for the licensing of healthcare professionals. The aim is to fast-track all the processes in the healthcare sector and improve efficiency. Accordingly, the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) publicized that UAE healthcare worker licensing will combine efforts from all health entities in the country into a single platform that will allow medical professionals to work unhindered in both public- and private-sector healthcare facilities.

Currently, healthcare professionals are required to go through licensing via several different entities, each having varying requirements. The new platform will harmonize this entire process, thereby eliminating redundancies and bringing efficiency to the licensing system. It is anticipated that the platform would go a long way in reducing the time and effort required by the professionals to get their licenses, said Alla Mansour Yahya, acting director of MOHAP’s Licensing and Accreditation Department.

Yahya emphasized that the aim is to make a system bettering the healthcare worker’s experience for transferring freely from one hospital to clinic across the UAE. “This will facilitate seamless transitions and improve overall efficiency in the healthcare sector,” she noted. The precise launch date is yet to be announced, but Yahya confirmed that the platform is in the final stages of development and will be rolled out in the near future.

The unified platform is going to incorporate a wide variety of healthcare workers: doctors, nurses, pharmacists, allied medical specialists, and technical personnel. It is expected that the new system will standardize the licensing process and do away with redundancies, thereby speeding up the process, reducing delays, and contributing to enhancing the effectiveness of the healthcare system in the UAE.

This development is being pursued as part of a wider program to transform and improve the healthcare infrastructure in the UAE to enhance access and quality of care for patients in this country. Carrying out this program alongside other healthcare organizations eases the role toward success.
