The UAE’s gaming authority has granted The Game LLC a license to operate the first authorized lottery in the country. The company, based in Abu Dhabi, specializes in game development, lottery operations, and gaming-related content.
The firm will offer lottery games and other games tailored to player interests and financial preferences under the name ‘UAE Lottery’. The Game LLC is a subsidiary of Momentum, an entertainment group involved in various gaming-related activities.
On September 3, 2023, the UAE formed GCGRA as a federal entity to lay down commercial gaming regulation mechanisms and appointed Jim Murren, a gaming expert, as the chairman, and Kevin Mullally with more than three decades of expertise in the gaming industry as the CEO.
The regulator will introduce measures that it is working on the conception that should presumably safeguard consumers as well as the business interests of all the market players.
There were many gaming and lottery companies conducting business in the country before the formation of the regulatory body. Out of them some of them halted their operations in the first quarter of the fiscal year.
Caution against illegal operation
GCGRA expressed that it is unlawful to participate, organize, or facilitate a commercial gaming operation in the UAE without its approval and violators would attract serious consequences. It further said playing as a consumer through unauthorized operators is also unlawful under the GCGRA framework.
“The establishment of the UAE Lottery is a historic moment signifying the foundation of a civilised world class lottery regulation mechanism but also the development of a safer and more prosperous commercial gambling market of UAE,” said Jim Murren.
Kevin Mullally said that it is primarily due to the GCGRA’s proper regulatory system through which the commercial gaming activities, including lottery games are conducted in UAE, inclusively being utterly free from compromise, bias, and any misleading complications.
“It also allows the consumer to have an array of tools to be able to moderate their gaming and also control their gaming experience Further, he was quick to indicate that new technologies are being used ensure that entertaining games are developed and created especially to fulfill the consumers’ interest.”
